씽크프리 - 한컴오피스, 웹 - 모바일 연동기능 강화

한글과컴퓨터는 ‘한컴오피스 2010’의 온라인 연동기능을 강화한 제품 업데이트를 진행한다고 9일 밝혔다. 또한 이와 함께 웹에서 내 문서를 볼 수 있는 ‘씽크프리 온라인’의 모바일 사이트를 발표하여, 언제 어디서나 ‘한컴오피스 2010’으로 작성된 문서의 온라인 저장 및 모든 모바일 기기에서의 문서 확인이 가능하게 되었다. 

한컴의 이번 발표는 문서의 활용 범위가 PC를 넘어 온라인-모바일 기기 등으로 확장되고 있는 추세에 맞춰 진행되었다. 

한컴은 먼저 문서 작성에 가장 최적화되고 친숙한 기기인 PC와 온라인을 연동하는 기능을 강화하여, ‘한컴오피스 2010’에서 웹오피스인 ‘씽크프리’의 문서를 불러오거나, 저장하는 등 온라인 영역으로의 문서 활용 가능성을 높이는데 중점을 둔 업데이트를 발표했다. ‘한컴오피스 2010’ 메뉴 상에 온라인 저장 기능이 부가된 것으로, 사용자들은 오피스를 사용하면서 별도의 프로그램 구동없이 ‘씽크프리’의 무료 온라인 저장공간에 접속해 내 문서를 불러오거나 저장하는 기능을 간단히 실행할 수 있게 된다. 


한컴은 PC에서 제작된 문서의 온라인 활용 기능을 강화하는 한편, 모바일 기기에서의 활용도를 높이기 위해 ‘씽크프리 온라인’의 모바일 사이트도 함께 발표했다. 씽크프리의 모바일 사이트는 모든 종류의 스마트폰에서 접속가능하며, 내문서함에 저장된 모든 문서를 다운로드해서 확인할 수 있도록 지원한다. MS 오피스 문서형식인 doc, xls, ppt는 물론 한컴오피스 한글 파일포맷인 hwp도 지원하여, 언제 어디서나 모든 스마트폰에서 내문서 확인이 가능하다. 


‘한컴오피스 2010’의 업데이트는 정품 사용자들에게 무료로 지원되며, ‘씽크프리 온라인’ 모바일 사이트는 누구나 무료로 접속해 사용할 수 있다. 

한컴은 이번 발표 이후에도 PC-웹-모바일의 경계를 넘어 오피스를 자유롭게 사용할 수 있도록 다양한 기능을 개발하고 발표할 계획이다. ‘한컴오피스 2010’에서 작성한 문서의 온라인 공유 기능 강화 및 ‘씽크프리 온라인’ 모바일 사이트의 다국어 버전, 미리보기 기능 등을 개발하여 순차적으로 공개할 예정이다. 한편 이번 ‘한컴오피스 2010’ 업데이트에서는 영문 언어를 지원한다. 이번 업데이트를 설치한 후 ‘한컴 기본 설정’ 프로그램을 통해 영문 OS 환경에서도 한글 뿐만 아니라 영어로 된 메뉴명과 대화상자를 사용할 수 있다.

이번에 출시된 윈도우 7 대응버전 ‘씽크프리 테가루 오피스’는 오는 22일 출시되는 마이크로소프트社의 새로운 OS인 윈도우 7에 원활히 대응하기 위한 제품이다. 지난 2007년 일본에 진출한 ‘씽크프리 테가루 오피스’ 의 새로운 버전으로 기존제품과 동일하게 워드프로세서인 ‘라이트(Write)', 표 계산 프로그램인 ’캘크(Calc)', 프리젠테이션 프로그램인 ‘쇼(Show)'로 구성되어 있다.

On October 21, Haannsoft Inc. (www.haansoft.com, CEO Young-Ick Kim, hereinafter referred to as "Haan") announced the release of ThinkFree Tegaru Office, a Japanese version of its office suite that can be used in Windows 7 and will soon be available nationwide from Sourcenext Corporation, Haan's authorized seller in Japan.

ThinkFree users will have no difficulty using the software in Microsoft's new Windows 7 OS — officially released on October 22. The new package includes the same programs as the previous version: Write (word processor), Calc (spreadsheet program) and Show (presentation program).

As well as retaining the core functions of the existing suite, the software is also compatible with MS Office. However, unlike the previous version, ThinkFree will be stored on a USB pen and sold in major stores for JPY 4,980. Sourcenext Corporation will oversee all sales as Haan's authorized seller in Japan.

Since ThinkFree Tegaru Office entered the Japanese market in 2007, the software has been popular thanks to its excellent functionality and compatibility with the MS office suite. As at August, 2009, Haan achieved the second highest total annual sales in Japan, outperformed only by its counterpart Microsoft, and Haan expects this sales figure to increase even further thanks to the new software's advanced features.

Haan also plans to build on the success of the ThinkFree program and establish itself firmly in the Japanese market as a reliable software producer, as well as launching its products on the international market.

According to Haan CEO, Young-Ick Kim, "The Windows 7-compatible software will be the launch pad for us to further our reputation as one of Korea's most successful software companies, not only in Japan but all over the world."

ThinkFree has earned over 700,000 users worldwide with its free online office document tools, and now it's trying to expand that appeal to small- and mid-size businesses with the ThinkFree Server Enterprise. It works safely behind firewalls, and promises easy document creation and collaboration tools.

ThinkFree started back in 1999 and was acquired by Haansoft Inc, its current parent company, in 2003. Most of the company's 150 employees are in Seoul, South Korea, although it maintains a satellite office in the United States. it's been selling desktop versions of its products in brick-and-mortar U.S. stores since 1999, beginning online sales in 2006.

Enterprise isn't a new area for ThinkFree. While it offers a desktop suite, as well as versions for the Android operating system and netbooks, it also offers a standard server edition. The new Server Enterprise edition, however, differs in that it works behind a firewall and integrates with existing services.

All ThinkFree versions include three core office applications for word documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. One crucial feature, says Edward Coloma, managing director for ThinkFree in the U.S., is that they offer roundtrip compatibility with Microsoft Office documents. The people behind ThinkFree know that the majority of office users have Microsoft Office, and so it sticks with the established Office formats.

ThinkFree's three office applications are built in Java and work with Windows, Macintosh, and Linux computers. They also have a small footprint, says Coloma, taking up just 17MB of space. That compactness has made them easy to adapt for mobile devices, he says. Look for a ThinkFree smartphone edition next year.

The philosophy behind the line, says Coloma, is that people should be able to access and work on their documents anytime. That's why ThinkFree products, including the free version, come with online storage.

Collaborating with Enterprise

ThinkFree Server Enterprise joins a family of products that debuted in 2006. Customers initially wanted a version of the ThinkFree suite that would integrate with existing services. To satisfy demand, the company created ThinkFree Server Integrator. For this product, however, the company combined the same functionality found in the online suite with collaboration tools and made it work behind firewalls.

A software-only product, ThinkFree Server Enterprise can be purchased online or from company sales representatives. The server requirements for the installation are surprisingly low. Any Windows computer can be a server, as long as it has 1GB of RAM and 500GB of storage. Most ThinkFree versions offer 1GB of online storage space, but since this version in self-hosted and sits behind a firewall, there's no storage limit.

The suite's collaboration tools let users share documents individually or with a group. Sending documents works with controls in the suite itself; there's no need to use e-mail. If you're sending to a group, only one person at a time will be able to edit the document. You can add a note when forwarding a document, and you can also see what changes other users have made. A future ThinkFree upgrade will offer versioning, says Coloma, but he couldn't say when that will happen.

The price of ThinkFree Server Enterprise is $40 per employee per year, with volume discounts, says Coloma. If you're interested, download the 30-day free trial from the site.

Blogger's Day 행사

2009년 3월 31일 오후 7시, 웹 서비스와 관련하여 활발한 활동을 펼치고 있는 파워 블로거들을 초청한 가운데,

Tinkfree Online Blogger's Day 행사가 열렸습니다.

이날 행사에는 온라인에서 맹활약을 펼치고 계시는 블로거 서명덕님, 명승은님을 비롯하여

20여 분의 파워블로거분들이 참석해 주셨으며,

또한 한글과컴퓨터의 씽크프리 온라인 개발실, 사업실 여러분도 자리를 함께 해 주셨습니다.

조촐하지만 의미있는 행사였습니다. 

한글과컴퓨터 서비스사업실 지윤성 실장이 프리젠테이션을 진행하고 있습니다. 오랜만에 보는 화면이 보이는군요. ^^

블로거와 서비스개발진이 얼굴을 맞대고 정보를 공유하는 자리입니다. 

취재의 열기가 흡사 정식 기자 간담회를 연상케 하는군요.

제1편. "인터넷 없이는 사무실도 없다!"

한 신입사원이 회사의 놀라운 비밀을 알게 된다.

인터넷이 없으면 그대로 '얼음'이 되어버리는 사무실...!!!

문서작업도, 프리젠테이션도 할 수 없다. 도대체 왜?

문서 파일은 PDF, IMG, TXT 등의 파일 형식으로 온라인 상에서 변환할 수도 있다.

특히 20여 가지 종류의 문서 파일 형식을 읽어 들일 수 있는 통합뷰어 유니페이퍼도 제공된다. 아래아한글 파일, MS오피스 파일, PDF 파일뿐 아니라 개방형 문서규격인 오픈XML 파일까지 읽고 인쇄할 수 있다. ‘유니페이퍼’는 오픈API(Application Programming Interface)를 제공하기 때문에 블로그나 홈페이지에서 문서를 손쉽게 공유할 수 있도록 지원한다.

한컴은 국내 대표 문서∙서식 전문서비스인 예스폼과 제휴해 ‘씽크프리 오피스 라이브’에서 웹에서 문서 서식을 검색, 활용할 수 있는 ‘닥스(Docs)’ 서비스도 제공한다.

We have been providing mash-up services with YouTube (video files), Flickr (photos), and Yahoo (maps), 
but ThinkFree web office users were not able to utilize files that were stored in their online account. (reflecting !, ^^;)

Now you can link documents which are stored in your ThinkFree Online Storage to  ThinkFree Note documents and insert image files very easily through the ThinkFree Mash-up service.

We also have an improved search feature for current our Mash-up service and added a search name table for YouTube, Flickr, and Delicious services.  You can also easily find data that exists under your username.  You can also easily search and add the data that you selected by using ‘Favorite Search’ .

You can search for text within the results of a location in our ‘Yahoo Map’ mash-up which makes it easy to find directions or locations to a place that you're looking for.

The look and feel of the three components, Write, Calc and Show, are about as close to their Microsoft counterparts as you can get. Every ruler, button and menu is nearly exactly in the place a Microsoft Office user would expect them to be.

With each of the ThinkFree applications, we were able to open a corresponding Microsoft file, make changes and save it without a problem, for the most part. The only area that ThinkFree fell short was with Calc, which was unable to keep certain Excel macros and data validation, but otherwise left everything intact. We were pleased to see that ThinkFree Office came with 1G of free online storage. When we added files to the ThinkFree Manager, they automatically synchronized with that online space. These files could also be accessed by logging in to the My Office Web interface from anywhere. They also could be published and shared among other users of My Office. There is a 10M limit to the file size you can upload, but only the most extravagant spreadsheet or presentation documents should approach that limit. Through the My Office interface we were also able to access a beta version of Workspace, which we found to be a versatile project management/online collaboration tool. We were also able to save ThinkFree Office files as Adobe Acrobat PDF documents as easily as any other file format. The ability to do this without external software is definitely an advantage. We found it unusual that, although ThinkFree programs could save in many different formats, they have absolutely no native file formats. Although this isn’t a particular advantage or disadvantage, we thought that it was worth mentioning. ThinkFree Office can be installed on Linux and Mac computers in addition to Windows ones.

The retail price of ThinkFree Office is one of its best features. A retail price of $50 is a good one, and the government price of $15 is a fantastic bargain.

We are currently developing an easier method of accessing ThinkFree online without needing to register for a ThinkFree account.

PDF file format documents acocunt for 10% of ThinkFree's storage.  This figure was created in October 2008 

 We have realized that currently the number of PDF file format documents uploaded to our online storage have been increasing.  These types of documents are normally published through the  ‘share’ or ‘publish’ feature to users.

In order to reduce inconvenience to view PDF file format documents, we decided to provide a PDF Viewer to users to allow viewing PDF file format documents without installing Acrobat Reader.

The PDF Viewer will be improved further in early 2009 by adding a ‘Print’ and  ‘search’ feature.

Here's some of the latest improvements:

Auto sync
No more worrying about keeping your files in sync.  File synchronization can now be set
to automatically synchronize your files at specified time intervals.

Background file sync
No more interruptions while you work on your document.  File synchronization works in
the background now unless you start a manual file sync by clicking the Sync button.


Share and publish context menu
Collaboration features are at your fingertips now.  The new share and "send the file link" (publish) context menu is available when you right-click on any file.



File Recovery
You needn't fear computer crashes while you edit a document.   In the event of a crash, a temp file will be saved for recovery upon restart.

Automatic sign in
For your convenience, you can now have ThinkFree Premium sign in automatically when you launch the application.

Connection down? Don't worry. ThinkFree Premium provides online and offline access to your
files and office applications. Show your sales presentation to the captive audience in the seat
next to you on the plane, update the sales numbers, and when you re-connect, get all of the
collaboration and version management features of ThinkFree Online.



File Synchronization
No need to manage uploading the latest changes you made when you were offline.  File Sync handles it for you and updates the latest file information.

Background Save
One of our most frequently requested features is here!  With our new SmartSave feature, you won't have to wait when you save files to your online storage (at ThinkFree Online).  Save as often as you want now that file saves (uploads) are handled automatically in the background.  You can continue doing what's important --- writing and creating.

Full Screen Editor
Ever close your browser by accident after editing a document?  Never again.  With the Premium editor, you'll get a full-sized editor with the same familiar interface you are used to in Microsoft Office.  No more confusion over which buttons belong to your browser or your editor.

Back up all your files
Archiving all your files shouldn't be a chore.  You can easily back up and download all your ThinkFree Online files and folders as one zipped file.

Convenient Access to ThinkFree Online
Saving and loading files located online has never been easier.  You can now load and save ThinkFree Online files from directly within your Premium editor.




Faster, larger files
Now it is possible to load and edit those impossibly large spreadsheets and incredibly long word documents.  The smooth-scrolling editor will remove any frustrations so you can concentrate on the task at hand.  Note that if you decide to save your file to ThinkFree Online, your individual file size must be less than 10 MB at this time.

Drag & drop file adding
Now you can easily add files (and folders) to your online storage by dragging and dropping your local file into a ThinkFree File Manager folder.  Of course you can also use the "Add files button" located at the top menu bar.
 
High Priority Tech Support
If you ever run into trouble, just send us an email and we will do everything we can to resolve your problem as soon as possible.

• Share the file with other collaborators - You can designate collaborators as co-authors (edit permission) or readers (view only). Collaborators will need to sign in to view or edit the document.

• Send the file link to clients and friends - This feature allows you to share the file with anyone including non-ThinkFree Online members. Recipients will be able to view, download or forward the document.

• Post to blog - Popular blogging services such as Blogger, TypePad, WordPress and Squarespace are supported.

• Post to ThinkFree Docs - You can share your documents with the everyone at ThinkFree Docs.

The file sharing function has changed.

• Changed control over collaboration participation. Collaborators can stop participating in document collaboration by removing themselves. In the previous ThinkFree Online version, collaborators were not able to control their participation. Only the file owner was able to remove collaborators.

• Increased 'file sharing function' accessibility. You can add, remove or change the file sharing status in several locations:

  1. Using the File List Page > Actions Menu > Share menu.
  2. Using the File Details Page > Actions Menu > Share menu.
  3. Using the File Details Page > Add collaborators link.

• Added comment alert feature. When collaborators post comments, they are able to send an email alert to other collaborators.

• Encrypted file share URL. For your convenience, the file link is automatically encrypted to increase security.

A file can be shared publicly.

• A file can be 'public' (). If you make a file 'public', the file can be viewed by anyone that receives the encrypted file link. Toggling the 'Allow anyone to view' button on File Details Page will turn the 'public' status on and off.
